Distinguished cultural and wildlife safaris
-- a division of Equitours

2009 was an interesting year for us at Faraway Safaris. Hadley and I went on fantastic scouting trips to India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Cambodia. Our adventures resulted in excellent new contacts and great ideas for itineraries in all of these countries.

Discover Southeast Asia: Magical Thailand- Mystical Cambodia

I put Cambodia at the top of everyone's "must explore list." We have created an itinerary that combines a visit to Thailand and Cambodia, truly a once in a lifetime journey. The trip encompasses a broad spectrum of what Thailand and Cambodia have to offer, including visits to a tiger monastery, the infamous Bridge on the River Kwai and the exquisite Angkor Wat.

Highlights include: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi Provence, Krabi, and Siem Reap, Cambodia. See the detailed itinerary.

Sri Lanka Exploration: Adventure in the Land of Serendipity

The past year has been a landmark turning point in Sri Lankan history with the decisive defeat of the LTTE rebel forces. For the first time in over twenty years the isle is at peace. Although Sri Lanka faces serious issues, 2010 presents a very hopeful step forward for this paradisiacal island. Hadley and I visited the country in 2009 along with my parents to scout out an exciting new 15 day itinerary. One highlight for me was meeting up with the host family that I lived with during my studies in Sri Lanka. Another highlight was a rare sighting of a female sloth bear with her two cubs. Sri Lanka remains a rarely visited gem and is currently extremely inexpensive to visit.

Highlights include: Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Yala National Park, and Galle. From $2,400 for 15 days. See the detailed itinerary.

Best wishes to everyone in 2010!
Sincerely,
Richard Fox
