At the desk: Ellen Vanuga
Behind the Faraway Safaris desk, answering your e-mails and phone calls, is Ellen Vanuga. Ellen has lived, studied, and traveled extensively around the globe. She has years of experience in the travel industry; unscrambling the myriad details of international safaris, and molding them into itineraries tailored to individuals and groups. She grew up on a ranch in the southwest, and maintains the small-town attitude that each client deserves thoughtful consideration. Her efficiency and attention to detail complements Richard’s vision and firsthand experience of the Faraway Safari destinations.
The vision behind the scenes: Hadley and Richard Fox
Hadley and Richard Fox, founders of Faraway Safaris, are uniquely qualified to organize wildlife and cultural safaris in remote parts of Asia and Africa. They have sought out places, often far from normal tourist haunts, where wildlife abounds and fascinating cultural interactions can still be experienced.
Richard was born in northwest Wyoming where he and his parents have a guest and working cattle ranch. Through Equitours Worldwide Riding Holidays, run by his family, he has become familiar with many exotic and little known destinations. At Bowdoin College in Maine he majored in South Asian history and spent a semester studying in Sri Lanka.
Hadley, a Yale graduate, was born and raised in North Carolina. She had traveled throughout the world and has a passion for experiencing new things and meeting new people. Her love of adventure is well suited to scouting out trips for Faraway Safaris.
